Featured! The Guardian Small Business Network....

I am so delighted to have been featured in Alison Coleman's Small Business Network article in February's Guardian.  Alison asked me to write about my experiences as a home-based small business owner in the Event & Wedding Planning Industry. Take a look at the full article here

2014 has already been a busy year for Do Events Limited and sister company Do Weddings.  I am in the final stages of planning for Shetal and Matthew's 2 day Wedding celebrations in April. The couple are hosting a quintessentially English Cricket Match followed by a Hindu Blessing at Teddington Cricket Club set in the beautiful surroundings of Bushy Park.  I am looking forward to working with Teddington based photographer Mat Quake, MIB Rocks and Dips Foods at the couples Wedding.

I have absolutely loved working with Teddington Athletic Football Club this season and in particular the U12 & U13 Girls Teams. Together with their team manager and Tim Syrad from the Teddington Wine Society we held a Wine & Beer Tasting Evening with Auction to raise funds for the girls forthcoming Tour to Duinrell, Holland.  The event raised over £4,000 thanks to local support and to the fantastic food supplied by Moidul's of Teddington, the U12 Girls Team sponsor.  I wish the girls a lot of fun and success on Tour this Easter and wish I was going too!

I have also been busy with my venue & supplier finding service.  I have had a great deal of fun working to some very unusual and challenging briefs, searching for the perfect venue for my party clients and brides. Thank you to all the venues I have been talking to including, Brooklands Museum, Dalston Department Store and Petersham Nursery.

I was lucky enough to sample the delicious offerings of local Chef Andrew Thorndyke this week at a client tasting - a very enjoyable perk of the job!

Do you fancy pitting your wit against our Quiz Master, then make sure to book your tickets for our next Quiz Night at The Lensbury, Teddington on Friday 25th April.

If you would like to talk to me further about how I can help you with your Party & Event planning or if you are a Bride and want to meet me for a Consultation about your Wedding, give me a call today on 07711 628703 or drop me an email to info@do-events.co.uk

A Very Special Little Wedding

It was a very early, cold and miserable start to Thursday 21 November 2013 when I arrived at the Wedding venue. A small and unique place in the middle of nowhere in Oxfordshire.  I sat in the car park looking out through the drizzle at the fields, farm and a large Red London Bus!

I had reached my destination for the day - The Crazy Bear in Stadhampton.  The venue is truly magical, being an old Sixteenth Century Inn, which has been fantastically transformed into quirky little Hotel and Wedding Venue with an oriental twist. Yet the bare bones of the cozy little Inn have been retained including what was to become during the day a very welcome and toasty log fire in the bar!

I was welcomed by Charlie with a warming cup of coffee and started to prepare for the Wedding of my couple, the very lovely Louise and Justin.  The Wedding was to be a small intimate affair with 31 Day Guests and a further 30 arriving in the evening.  The venue was perfect for this.  The Wedding Ceremony took place in the gorgeous Oak Room, which was to be the centerpiece for the day. Set up began with the overarching Royal Blue theme - Bows on chairs, simple ivory floral arrangements on the tables and a lot of tea lights!

By the time the Bride and Groom and guests arrived the sun was shining and thank fully it had turned into a bright winter's day.

The Bride entered the Ceremony to Canon in D. Louise and Justin made their promises to one another watched by their close family and friends.

Every guest invited to the intimate ceremony wore an ivory rose button hole with diamante pins made by Lucinda The Balloon Lady. A lovely gesture by the Bride & Groom to signify how special each and every one of their guests were.

Cake Sweet Cake provided delicious Cup Cakes and Snowflake Shortbread biscuits for favours. Louise created her own beautiful bouquet from broaches, diamante and pearls.

The Oak Room was then transformed for the Wedding Breakfast. The contrasting white floral table centerpiece and the dark paneled walls and black cloths created a wintery yet cosy setting for the Breakfast.  A huge thank you goes to Atilla, Guy, Jason and all the team at The Crazy Bear for all their hard work and attention to detail. Nothing was too much trouble and they were a fantastic team to work with.

The venue took on yet another persona after dark. A dramatic pathway of burning torches greeted the guests when they emerged from their Wedding Breakfast. Guests enjoyed a typically unusual Crazy Bear 3 course meal of Smoked Salmon, Pate and Roast Beef with a trio of puddings to finish.

The already stunning Glass House was simply dressed by the Balloon Lady with high cocktail glass vases, with blue gels and floating candles for the Champagne Reception and Evening Party. The guests danced the night away to music played by Sound Bookings London.

Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs Bucknell. I have had such fun working with you over the last 12 months to help plan your perfect day and wish you all the best for a fantastic future together!  The official photos will be appearing on the blog soon, taken by superbly talented Faye Cornhill.

I would love to work with you to help you plan your perfect Wedding Day or Party.  Please contact me for a chat about your plans on 07711 628703 or email: info@do-events.co.uk

News and Mentions!

With less than a month to go until Louise and Justin's Wedding it was lovely to see some promotional photographs of the couple by the fabulously talented Faye Cornhill taken at Hanbury Manor, Hertfordshire.

Louise and Justin will be getting married at The Crazy Bear, Stadhampton at the end of November.  It is a unique and beautiful venue, created within a sixteenth century Inn.  The Wedding will be a small and intimate affair and I have had such a lot of fun working with Louise to create her perfect day.  I can't wait to share Faye's photographs with you later next month.

Summer 2013

Forgive me...it has been a long time since my last blog!  In fact it has been so long I have no idea where to begin.

We have had such a hectic Summer with Weddings, Events and Holidays.  I think a little photo diary might be the best way to illustrate what we have been up to since we last met and what is coming up this Autumn!

 July 2013

Claire and Harry Jackman were married at Weston Turville Village Church, followed by a Reception at Aylesbury Rugby Football Club in July this year.  It was such a pleasure to help Claire plan her Wedding and I'm glad that I could be there to share her special day.

The Wedding was a very relaxed, family affair.  Guests enjoyed a traditional Wedding Breakfast within the Rugby Club with the room being beautifully decorated by Hire Heaven

Delicious Cake pops made by Jennifer Cakes.

Evening Guests were entertained by Do Events & Weddings favourite band The Love Handles

A little added magic was provided by Sylar! Fabulous Cocktails were created by Aaron from the Bar Staff UK.

Later in the evening guests enjoyed a BBQ and toasted marshmallows on firepits.  Whilst others had lots of Rugby inspired fun with the Photo Booth!

Harry and Claire's kind words after their Wedding make my job all the more rewarding.
"The best decision we made! Caroline was an absolute star and a pleasure to deal with.
Caroline you were absolutely worth your weight in gold.  I have no doubt that we wouldn’t have had such a great day if it had not been for Caroline and would have absolutely zero hesitation in recommending her!"

August 2013

In August we took an extended break with the family in Puglia, staying at an apartment in the beautiful town of Alberobello, a Unesco World Heritage Site.

We returned from holiday to attend my cousin Sarah's Wedding at the lovely Ashton Lodge in Warwickshire.  It was to lovely to attend the Wedding as a guest and our son James played a starring role as Sarah & Russel's Page Boy.

September 2013

Do Weddings once again took part in the Ice The Cake Wedding Show at the Waterside Theatre, Aylesbury earlier this month.  The event was attended by over 400 brides and their families.  We offered a free Consultancy and Advice Session to all those who registered and attended the event and we are busy speaking to lots of brides we met on the day. If you would like to book an appointment with me please call 07711 628703 or email: info@do-events.co.uk

To read more about our Wedding Consultancy & Co-ordination Services please visit the website and to read testimonials from our Clients and Brides please click here.

On Friday 27th September we will once again be returning to The Lensbury, Teddington for the now infamous bi-annual Do Events Quiz Night.  The event is again sold out with 19 teams set to pit their wits against one another in this popular 6 round quiz and the Do Events Quiz Master!

November 2013

November brings our next Wedding at The Crazy Bear in Stadhampton. This is a fantastic venue - a mix of Asian and British Design, within a 16th Century Public House. The Wedding will be an intimate affair for family and friends with a number of very personal touches and twists dreamt up by the bride. I look forward to being able to share some photos from the day with you soon.

Looking ahead to 2014....

I am delighted to have been asked to plan Shetal and Matthew's Indian Wedding in 2014.  The Wedding has 2 parts, starting in Mumbai, India in February, then moving on to Teddington, Middlesex in April.

The bride and groom have also decided to hold a Cricket Match at Teddington Cricket Club with a quintessentially English Cream Tea on Good Friday, followed by a Hindu Marriage, Blessing and Reception on Easter Saturday with a spectacular 80s inspired party in the evening.  The whole Wedding will take place in the the beautiful surroundings of Bushy Park.

Lots of Brides to be and their excited families braved the snow to come and speak to us and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Heatherden Hall, Pinewood Studios earlier this month. The venue and its spectacular grounds offer a very unique and impressive place to Marry situated at the heart of the world famous Pinewood Studios.  Heatherden Hall has a fascinating history, being privately owned by a number of notable individuals. In 1900 the house was transformed into a Victorian showpiece with a huge ballroom and a Turkish bath. In the 1920's it became a retreat for politicians and in 1934 it was bought by builder Charles Boot who later met J. Arthur Rank who went on to become his partner in the studio project. Many famous movies were filmed at Heatherden Hall including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Carry on Films.

We met some lovely suppliers including Avica Bridal, Vesuvius, Andrew Gleed Photography, Floribundi Flowers and Theme Marriage.

Do Events & Weddings are now supplying Vintage Crockery for parties and Weddings. A list of prices are listed on our Website here. Please contact Caroline Doughty Smith for more information and pictures.

We were so delighted to receive a Silver Award for our website www.do-events.co.uk from MumpreneurUK . This was such an unexpected surprise and we thank all the team who worked on the site.

We are now listed on the fabulous Ice the Cake supplier network, look out for our official new approved supplier welcome coming soon.
