Two Days and Counting....

The last couple of weeks have been crazy in the run up to London 2012 and now there are just over 2 days to go until the Opening Ceremony.  Do Events have been working on several local events, taking place over the first Olympic weekend.  It has been a challenging time too as we have had to postpone one event due to restricted access issues and road closures as the Men's and Women's Cycle Road Races travel through Busy Park and Teddington.  I was all geared up to transport The Love Handles' equipment across Bushy Park on the back of a tractor to the venue, but it is sadly not a challenge I have to complete!

Teddington is now ready to receive its Olympic visitors over the next few days and the Queen's Jubilee flags have now been replaced by flags representing the competing nations along the High Street. On Friday 27 July, the Olympic Torch relay will come to an end in Bushy Park and will then take its final trip to the Olympic Stadium in a cauldron aboard the Queen's Gloriana Barge along the Thames from Hampton Court. We along with thousands of other local people will make the early start to watch this fantastic spectacle. The Olympic Games really is the event to end all events and Danny Boyle's London 2012 Opening Ceremony is sure to be a fantastic spectacle.  On Friday afternoon Teddington will host a Parish Olympic Fete. Do Events have been working alongside the Parish team to create an event which includes a number of Olympic themed games and fun for all the family. The Opening Ceremony will also be screened from 7.30pm in St Mary's Parish Hall, with the bar open from 6pm.

Saturday 28th July sees the Men's Road Race pass through the town and Sunday 29th July the Women's Road Race. I am sure Bradley Wiggins recent success in the Tour de France will entice more people out onto the streets to cheer on the riders. Teddington is hosting Teddington Active from 2pm till 5pm on Sunday with 5 Zones set up across the town.

On Monday 30th July we will be watching the Cross Country at Greenwich Park, so let's hope this amazing weather holds! We hope to see you at an Olympic event in Teddington over the next few days and look forward to sharing some pictures and anecdotes from the weekend with you next week.
